Many times, movies about religiosity are self-absorbed and preachy. But not HACKSAW RIDGE. This film is violent, raw and has good rhythm. And emotional. Without being too dramatic. Thou it can make you cry.
We may not accept the protagonist’ and the story’s conviction. And we don’t need to. Myself is not religious orthodox but the film is very agreeable.
Mel Gibson is back, indeed! He may be racist and an asshole but he damn knows how to make impressive films.
